Overall printed suit
A sure shot hit among punjabi girls!
Little flowery/abstract pattern either on light or dark color is what we look for, in this must have suit. A 2.5 meters shirt and 2.5 meters heavy patiala salwar can be easily styled with dupatta either matching the pattern color or fabric base.
The preferred fabrics for this suit include cotton, cambric cotton, glace cotton, crepe, jam cotton, georgette etc.
Pro tip: Keep the dupatta toned down to avoid a gaudy look!

Suit with jacket
We love wearing this on special gatherings or cultural events.
A fully embroidered heavy well fitted jacket! The styling is quite easy. It could either be a contrast shade to the suit or matching the salwar. This perfectly tones up a basic or light colored suit.
The trusted fabrics are silk, chanderi, tapeta silk, jaipuri cotton, brocade etc.
Pro tip: Get yourself a phulkari jacket stitched!
Plain suit
This is completely “upto you” combination.
A plain white or colored suit matched with either plain, heavy or multicolored dupatta. A simple yet chic Punjabi suit. The chikankari long Kurtis makes a perfect sophisticated outfit. This can be worn on daily basis, for small gatherings or even to office on casual days.
Preffered Fabrics include linen, cotton, jam cotton, glace cotton, chikankari, silk, crepe etc.
Pro Tip: Matching dark colors sensibly is the key!
Phulkari suit
No punjabi wardrobe is complete without a phulkari.
Phulkari which literally means Flower work is the most beautiful embroidery work from Punjab. It could either be on a dupatta or a Kurti. The absolutely stunning floral work with multicolored thread forms an integral part of all marriage ceremonies taking place in Punjab. To style this, a simple plain suit with heavy Phulkari/bagh or phulkari embroidery or patchwork on a suit is enough to look modish.
There are few fabrics only on which you get a phulkari or Bagh, check your available fabrics and designs beforehand.
Pro Tip: For first time buyers, start with a multicoloured phulkari, later advance to a bagh.
Embroidered suit
The one suit which is my way or high way!
I mean India is known for its hand work, the intricacies and artworks. Every state has its own kind of style and so do punjab. The punjabi embroidery usually has 3-4 colors or a contrast shade to the overall suit! Dupatta usually is of the embroidery color but it depends on the color used.
For the regular suits, a simple silk or cotton thread embroidery is preferred but for festive or heavy suits, tilla or zari work is in demand.
Pro Tip: Don’t try too many colors in embroidery except in white or black suit.
