About the Restaurant

Opened on March, 2014, Operation falafel is a local restaurant for arabic food. It has its branches in UAE and KSA. It has a good range of food to offer from different comfort food options like falafel, sandwiches, salads etc to assorted platters. According to the message from its CEO, “It’s a place where real food meets real people – no pretentious ingredients, no complex cooking methods – only simple, authentic Arabic food served with a side of street credibility.”

If you are wondering what falafel is .It is a deep-fried ball made from ground chickpeas, favabeans. It is a traditional middle eastern food which commonly served with pita, where it is served as a pocket or wrapped in flatbread called taboon. Falafel balls can be eaten alone as a snack or served as part of an assortment. A regular operation falafel restaurant has a simple set-up with an open kitchen and wooden interiors.

It consists of falafel, hummus, shwarma, manaeesh, fattoush, halloumi, foul and much more!

My experience

Discovered accidentally, this restaurant has some lovely arabic vegetarian options. So simply a heaven for a vegetarian like me in Dubai. I got different options like classic falafel, stuffed falafel, sandwiches, wraps, foul, salads.  The pita bread was nice and warm when served. The hummus was served in a semi flat bowl and the quantity was good. The size of falafel was fair and it came with its own hummus dip, some olives, pickles, cucumber and tomato slices on the side. It is enough for two persons and the price tag it carries is reasonable too.

As far as the taste is concerned, it was genuine. The falafel were nicely cooked but a little on the dry side. Hummus was creamy and fresh.

Ambience: 4/5
Taste: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value: 4/5

Overall the concept is good. It serves traditional street food and Ordering is easy. The portions are nice and big. The servers are helpful but service is not quick. It is a nice and casual place to go out with family and kids.

So here I conclude my today’s review, I’ll get back with some more food/dining options for you.

Till then,

Take care
